Elche-based comfort footwear brand Pikolinos, one of the biggest in the Alicante area, the heartland of shoe production in Spain, is pushing ahead with plans to expand its retail presence.
Only 20% of its production stays in Spain, with the rest exported to 60 countries around the world, but the company now has 16 own-brand stores in major cities including Alicante, Oviedo, Granada and, most recently, Madrid.
The new store is on the capital's most iconic footwear shopping street, Calle Goya. The outlet covers 175 square-metres and stocks shoes under the Pikolinos brand as well as a more formal, high-end fashion range under its Martinelli brand.
The company is committed to expanding the number of stores it has in Spain to 40 before the end of this year.
