Brazilian footwear seminar to be held in May

Enrolment for the 12th Brazilian Footwear Industry Seminar is now open. The main subject of the event, which is to be held in Fortaleza, capital city of the Northeastern state of Ceará on 8 and 9 May 2008, is 'Alternatives for the Brazilian Footwear Industry'. It will bring together some of the world's most renowned shoe specialists who will give a picture of the global sector to Brazilian manufacturers.
Among the speakers will be Ferenc Schmél of UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation), who will give a presentation entitled 'Global Scenario of the Footwear Market'. Roland Steyns, also of UNIDO will talk about 'The Evolution and Future of Sports Shoes in the World Market', Chilean Pedro Beriestain Bosco, general manager of Chile's Chamber of the Leather, Footwear and Allied Industries, will show 'Latin America's Potential as a Footwear Market'; and Yrjö Gorski, managing-director of the Finnish Fashion Retailers Association, will present 'A Panorama of the European Footwear Market'.
Prof. Enio Erni Klein, Abicalçados Commercial Intelligence Consultant, will be in charge of the closing lecture dealing with 'The Brazilian Northeastern Region as a Footwear Production and Export Platform'. The subject of the lecture is expected to be the highlight of the event, considering that the state of Ceará, home to some of the country's largest footwear manufacturers, was the main Brazilian footwear exporter in the first two months of the year.
