Emerson upgrades Argentina plant
Emerson Process Management has completed its multi-year modernisation works at Petrobras Zarate, a polystyrene manufacturing facility 80 kilometres north of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Production has risen by between 3% and 5% to 66,000 tons per year, while product reliability is up 2-3%.
The plant, which produces high impact, general purpose crystal and bioriented sheet polystyrene, is part of Petrobras Energia, an integrated energy company in Buenos Aires. The polystyrene is used to make a range of items inluding footwear, disposable food containers and refrigerators.
“We needed modernisation to place the plant in the vanguard of technology and ensure it could respond to the needs of the market,” said Roberto Gorbaran, instrumentation supervisor at Petrobras.”
