Corporate parent Brown Shoe Company Inc. wants to move the brand´s operations to St. Louis so that it can be part of a "more connected company".

Brown Shoe says the 270 Madison-based employees will be offered jobs and relocation assistance. Those who do not want to relocate will be given severance packages.

Famous Footwear has more than 1,000 stores across the US.
