Pakistan grows upper leather production

The Federal Bureau of Statistics of the government of Pakistan has said the country has registered a growth of 6.6% in production of upper leather to 1.7 million square-metres in December 2007 from 1.5 million square-metres in December 2006.
Pakistan also produced 1.6 million pairs of footwear in December 2007 compared to 2.1 million pairs in December 2006, a decline of 23.2%.
Sole production fell by 41.7% to 7 tonnes from 12 tonnes in December 2006.
