Ten join leather programme
19/03/2008
The
local authorities in the province of Huelva in the south-west of Spain
have made a grant of €235,000 available for ten local unemployed people
to train as leatherworkers.
The course will last a year, during which time all training fees will be covered, and candidates will, in addition, receive a salary at a rate of one-and-a-half times the local minimum wage.
The provincial government hopes to produce new skilled workers to give a boost to local footwear production. The industry has a strong tradition in towns such as Valverde del Camino.
