Vietnam warning for Korean firms
12/03/2008
Korean footwear manufacturers that have set up production facilities in Vietnam have been warned by analysts back home that they face troubled times.
Commentators have pointed to three factors that threaten to make the Vietnamese ventures less successful than they have been in previous years: illegal strikes, rising labour costs and lack of available labour.
Vietnam is still the region's fastest growing economy, but even Korean manufacturers who have been there for many years have been warned that they now face competition for workers from companies moving in from all parts of the world now.
