MICAM quality pleases organisers

05/03/2008

Almost 40,000 professionals in the leather and footwear sectors attended the MICAM exhibition in Milan last week.

Vito Artioli, the president of the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers (ANCI), the group that organised the event, said afterwards: “This edition registered a drop in attendance figures, and especially those from Italy. But there were a large number of high-level buyers, more than in 2007.”

He added that 1,665 exhibiting companies and the organisers were delighted by this increase in quality. The ANCI president said exhibitors had achieved “good business turnover” at the event.

There were 20,903 visitors from outside Italy, with large groups of buyers from Russia, Japan and northern Europe making a particular impression.

Mr Artioli went on to say that he was pleased at the high levels of creativity exhibitors showed in their collections for autumn and winter 2008–2009. He commented: “This feature is the real strength of Italian companies and the factor that ensures we continue to be the leader in the highest market brackets.”
