Employment in the footwear sector falls

Brazil’s footwear and leather sector reported a significant decline in employment in 2007.
While overall industrial employment rose 2.2%, compared with 2006, new jobs were being created in sectors such as food and drink (+4%), transport (+7.7%), metal products (+7.3%) and machinery and equipment (+7%), the footwear and leathergoods sector posted a significant 7.3% decline.
