High-end brand sold
Following a recent spate of bankruptcies in the British footwear retail sector, there is some positive news to report. UK-based Kurt Geiger, a wholesaler and retailer of higher-end footwear labels such as Jimmy Choo, Marc Jacobs and Prada as well as its own brands Carvella and KG, has reportedly been sold by Barclays Private equity for more than two-and-a-half times the price it paid for the company in 2005.
Investment firm Graphite Capital is said to have paid £95 million for the company, which operates 16 retail outlets a across the UK and some 96 concessions in department stores including Harrods, Selfridges, and Liberty.
