Stepping up the quality at GDS
The international footwear and leathergoods fair GDS/GLS, which will take place in Düsseldorf, Germany, on March 14-16, is set to take a step up in terms of the quality of the products on show, as the number of exhibitors in the premium area continues to rise and the event has, in the words of the organisers, “experienced another quantum leap in terms of exhibitor quality”. Some 224 exhibitors will now take part in the show’s “Exclusivity” segment as well as its concept areas ‘prime square’, ‘white cubes’, ‘the pulse’ and ‘exclusivity concept’, 3% higher than at last year’s event.
Commenting on the move towards higher-end goods, project director Kirstin Deutelmoser said: “We are delighted with the extremely strong interest taken by really good prime brands. We were only too pleased to open another hall, namely Hall 17, to satisfy the large international demand for exhibition space in the exclusive segment”.
A total of 1,365 exhibitors will showcase their new shoe and bag collections for Autumn/Winter 2008/09 as well as trends for the current season at the Düsseldorf event, with GDS/GLS alone posting a 13% rise in exhibitor figures.
