Crocs steps into basketball
Having already secured deals with the MLB, NFL, NHL, PGA Tour, NCAA, and NASCAR, American footwear brand Crocs, Inc. has expanded its licensing business with a new agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA). Covering its Crocs footwear and Jibbitz charms, the deal allows Crocs to license agreed logos for all 30 NBA teams and related NBA properties.
NBA branded Crocs shoes — including the Mammoth model, created for cold weather wear — will be available prior to the start of the 2008/2009.
“Basketball fans are some of the most dedicated in all of professional sports and we’re thrilled to provide NBA fans with a new way to support their favourite teams and show their spirit from head to toe,” said Ron Snyder, chief executive. “Many Crocs customers are actively involved in sports and outdoor activities, which will make these new products a hit for athletes and fans alike."
“Partnering with Crocs provides an opportunity to extend a fun and unique line of footwear to NBA fans,” said Sal LaRocca, executive vice president, NBA Global Merchandising Group.
