Bayer chief to make keynote speech at UTECH

The organisers of the polyurethanes event UTECH Europe 2009 have announced that Patrick Thomas, chief executive of Bayer MaterialScience AG will make the keynote address at the event, which will take place in Maastricht, The Netherlands, on March 31 to April 2 next year. Mr Thomas’ speech will open a session of presentations focused on issues surrounding the sustainability of the PU sector and its products.

The main technical conference will open with two parallel sessions on the first day and continue over the succeeding days of the event when more than 50 technical presentations will be given detailing the latest advances in polyurethane technology. Papers on topics such as new processing techniques, novel raw materials based on renewable resources, and advances in the fire retardance of polyurethanes have already been offered for consideration, however, PU technologists can still submit papers on the latest advances in the production, processing and application of polyurethanes and PU-based products until March 20 this year.

The conference will run alongside the UTECH exhibition which will feature more than 100 exhibitors. The whole event is expected to attract more than 3,500 specialists.
