Speaking to local media, chief minister of the state of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, recently announced that the Indian government plans to establish two new footwear design and development institutes in the state.

He added that Union Commerce Minister Kamal Nath has already approved the financing for the first facility, which will have the capacity to provide training in shoemaking skills for up to 1,000 young people every year.
