Head strides into tennis footwear

Already well known for its tennis racquets, Head is stepping into a different market with the launch of a performance tennis footwear line.

The new footwear incorporates Head CXG technology which is said to provide comfort, decreased foot fatigue, stability and motion control through a special coil in the sole. Made up of turned polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon and saran fibres encapsulated in a resilient polyurethane, the coil is said to compresses when the foot makes contact with the ground to absorb shock, then release to produce an upward force as the foot reaches the end of its stride.

“The technology gives players responsive performance on all playing surfaces,” said Robert Marte, executive vice president of Head’s Racquet Sports Division. “Its benefits guarantee that they can play the game with less fatigue and faster manoeuvrability.”

In addition to the Head CXG technology, the line will also incorporate the Head Cooling System for “climate control” within the shoe, Head Radial Contact outsole technology for improved traction with maximum flexibility and a Hybrasion outsole, which has been developed to enhance resistance for the high stress areas of the tennis shoes.
