Sales dip at Bakers
While high-end companies appear to be sailing through the current economic turmoil untouched it’s a different story for mid-range retailers. American retailer of women’s footwear and accessories Bakers Footwear Group, Inc. has reported a significant dip in sales for both the fourth quarter and full year 2007 sales.
For the fourth fiscal quarter, net sales fell 10.6% to $54.7 million, down $6.5 million from the $61.2 million reported in the same prior-year period, while full year sales declined 9% to $186.3 million, $18.4 million below the $204.8 million achieved in 2006.
Remaining positive, Peter Edison, chairman and chief executive stated: “Our fourth quarter sales results reflected an improvement over our sales trend for the preceding twelve months, driven by a positive response to our boot offerings – an important category for the quarter.”
Bakers currently operates over 240 stores across the USA under its Bakers and Wild Pair formats.
