High hopes for Brazilian brands at Micam

04/02/2008

Having achieved a ten-fold increase in sales at Micam in Italy in September 2007, Brazilian footwear manufacturers are set to return to the show in force this month (February).

35 Brazilian manufacturers will exhibit at the show, where they will continue to promote their own brand shoes in an attempt to increase revenue and offset the negative effects of the low dollar. “Just as it happened at the previous edition of Micam, Brazilian companies are seeking to export under their own brands and designs as a way to compensate the price increase resulting from the low US dollar exchange rate," said Vivian Laube, marketing consultant for the Export Promotion Program (Brazilian Footwear) set up by the Brazilian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Abicalçados) in partnership with the local export and investment promotion agency, Apex-Brasil.

According to Abicalçados, Brazilian companies secured sales worth $7.6 million at Micam last September and those participating this time are confident of exceeding this figure at the upcoming show, which will take place between February 26 and 29 in Milan.

The companies taking part will include Dakota, Luiza Barcelos, Siboney, Stéphanie Clássic, Werner, Capelli Rossi (Calçados Status), Dilly, Vizzano/Toccado, Ferrucci, Azaléia, Malu, Biondini, Góoc, Monacci and Piccadilly, Anatomic Gel, Bettarello, Bibi, Bical, Democrata, Grendene, Kidy, Klin, Pampili, Tarragona, Radamés/Sândalo, Via Uno, Studio TMLS, Albanese, GVD, Villione, Miezko and Cristófoli.
