Texon unveils a force to be reckoned with

28/01/2008

Hong Kong-based component solutions provider Texon International has launched a new high performance, recyclable stiffener technology that is said to be up to 25% lighter and 40% thinner than conventional stiffeners.

According to the company, Texon Force produces a significantly stronger heel counter and box toe puff with less weight, delivering the right amount of structure, shape, comfort and support where it is most required, making it an “ideal” solution for performance footwear, and especially running and trekking shoes, where weight and gauge reduction are an advantage. It is also said to be suitable for dress and casual shoes with improved topline and shape retention.

Sufficiently thin to eliminate skiving in many types of footwear because of its slimmer profile, the stiffener can still be skived when required.

It is available in four gauges from 0.80mm to 1.40mm and is also recyclable, thus enabling Texon to work with customers to reduce their disposal costs and operate in a more sustainable way.

Commenting on the new product Stan Lamb, chief operating officer said: “Texon Force is an exciting breakthrough in stiffener technology, as it meets all our clients’ requirements in terms of lightness, thinness and moisture-resistance, without compromising on high performance, strength and comfort. At the same time, it allows them to meet their environmental and sustainability commitments, as the product is totally recyclable.  We’re confident it will enable producers to forge new ground in footwear manufacturing.”
