British outdoor and sports footwear brand Hi-Tec will unveil a new footwear collection featuring P2i’s ion-mask waterproofing technology at ispo in Munich, Germany, at the end of January.

Initially developed to protect the military from chemical attacks, the ion-mask plasma technology is said to permanently alter the surface of fabric at a molecular level in order to repel water and other liquids, without altering the appearance of the product — in this case footwear.
