New sustainable shoe steps into the market
Said to be the world's largest specialty retailer of comfort footwear America’s The Walking Company has launched a new sustainable comfort footwear range, PlanetWalkers by Simple, as part of a month-long 'Sustainable Comfort' promotion, which aims to highlight the efforts of the comfort shoe industry to incorporate eco-friendly materials and production techniques.
The new collection features leather from certified BLC and ISO 14001 tanneries committed to continued improvement in all aspects of their business that affect the planet. PlanetWalkers' outsoles are moulded with a blend of 60% latex rubber and 40% recycled car tyre composite, while cork and recycled compression moulded EVA make up the midsole and ground recycled car tyre and Ortholite footbeds provide the insole with arch support.
