Black Diamond launches new freeride boot line

14/01/2008

After three years of development, Switzerland-based Black Diamond has launched a completely new product line of Freeride-specific ski boots for winter 2008/2009 with nine new models which are said to offer the stiffness and power of an alpine boot for the descents and the comfort and function of a touring boot for the ascents.

The Factor, which is the stiffest boot in the new collection, weighs just 4,130g and was designed using the company’s newly-derived Net Shape Fit Technology, to provide improved comfort and fit. The boot also has a removable and formable boot-board to provide insulation and warmth. Furthermore the foot-bed is thermoformable and can be customised for individual fitting, while the liner features a non-compacting, no-slip Strobeled sole as well as an internal reflective foil which serves as a radiant thermal barrier. It is manufactured from triple-injection Triax Pro Frame to provide lightweight, progressive flex and Pebax shell material to provide maximum torsional stiffness and lateral power transfer.
