Innovations abound at WSA
Many global players in the footwear components and materials sector will unveil new innovations at the first Materials at WSA Expo and Conference in Las Vegas next month.
New products set to be unveiled include a 100% recyclable Thermalplastic toecap from SH Composites from Taiwan which, while it is the same shape as a steel toecap, is non-magnetic, anti-corrosive, non-conductive and weighs 50% less than a traditional steel product. Component material developer Texon International will launch a new high performance, recyclable stiffener technology that is said to be up to 25% lighter and 40% thinner than conventional stiffeners, while Dae Woo will showcase its latest film coating, spread coating, surface heat treatment and laser processing techniques.
In terms of footwear materials, the focus will be on eco-friendly products. Italy’s Creative Leathers, which specialises in bovine leathers, will unveil its new chrome-free, biodegradable velour suede leather called Ecowhite, while Conceria Virginia S.p.A. will introduce its latest washable leathers and waterproof materials.
“The Materials Expo offers visitors a new experience in the world of footwear materials sourcing. We have taken great care to select the best exhibitors possible to make this show a must for all designer, development and sourcing professionals,” said show director, Courtney Harold.
