American engineered polymer company Kraton Polymers LLC has launched Kraton G1633, which is said to open up new opportunities for TPE-S (styrenic thermoplastic elastomer) compounds in high temperature, high performance applications.

The new product is said to match or outperform the performance of TPV (thermoplastic vulcanizate) material when using Kraton G1633 with the right combination of Polyolefin blends to provide long-term durability combined with high quality aesthetics and lighter weight. It is also said to improve the compression set and stress relaxation of TPE-S compounds at temperatures over 70°C and allow the production of TPE-S compounds with a broad hardness range, excellent oil extendibility, good processability in both extruded and injection moulded applications, recyclability and extensive bonding possibilities when compared to alternative material solutions.

Commenting on the new polymer Kevin Fogarty, executive vice-president, said: “Its excellent combination of physical, hardness and processing properties makes it the ideal solution for maximising the performance of TPE-S compounds when high temperature performance is required.”
