With the aim of expanding the presence of Brazilian footwear in the affluent Middle East markets, a group of 11 Brazilian footwear companies, representing 13 brands, will participate at Expo Riva Middle East, in Sharjah in February.

The event will mark the first time that Brazilian companies have exhibited at a trade show in the United Arab Emirates.

According to Abicalçados, which is organising the Brazilian presence at the show, in conjunction with the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brasil), the fair will open up opportunities to strengthen trade relations with the entire Middle East region and increase Brazil’s share of the huge imported footwear market.

Although Brazil already exports to the region, according to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce the numbers remain small. In the period January to October this year Brazil only exported 904,000 pairs worth $11.2 million to the UAE.
