Former chairman of the Italian association of machinery manufacturers for the shoe, leathergoods and tanning industries Assomac Giovanni Gaia, has been named as one of this year’s recipients of the Milano Finanza newspaper and the Italy China Foundation’s ‘China Award’.

Mr Gaia, who was chairman of Assomac from 2003 to 2007 and is currently chairman of Atom Spa, was recognised in the “Creators of value in the industrial clusters and sectors” category.

Other companies recognised at the awards included Geox and Fornarina (footwear), Ferragamo (leathergoods), Gruppo Mastrotto and Eco Leather (leathers).
