Falsely labelled Chinese footwear seized
Peruvian customs officials recently seized a large shipment of Chinese footwear, thought to be worth around PEN1 million ($331,691.46), that had been falsely labelled as originating in Malaysia.
On discovering irregularities in the documentation for three containers, officials decided to inspect the 75,000 pairs of sandals and discovered that the Chinese products had been relabelled with 'Made in Malaysia' tags in order to avoid paying anti-dumping duties.
