Footwear exports slip as political uncertainty continues
It appears that the current state of emergency in Pakistan and an uncertain political future is also affecting footwear exports in the country. According to figures released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, the sector’s exports slipped
16.34% month-on-month in October to $6.691 million, down from $7.998 million
in September.
Statistics for the first four months of the fiscal year (July to October) made no better reading as they also declined 1.13% to 5,304,000 pairs worth $35.384 million (of which leather footwear exports accounted for $26.995 million, canvas footwear $0.579 million and other footwear $7.810 million) compared with 4,516,000 pairs valued at $35.790 million in same period a year ago.
