Elastogran launches new lightweight PU sole systems
German developer and producer of polyurethane systems and special elastomers Elastogran, part of the BASF group, has launched two new lightweight PU sole systems — Elastoflite and Elastopan S Proflite.
Particularly well-suited to sports and leaisure footwear, Elastoflite is said to be a technically sophisticated three-component PU sole system for all types of midsoles, which with its low density is said to be up to 40% lighter than conventional systems. It is also said to offer excellent wearing comfort, good hydrolysis and microbe resistance and uses a water-blown PU system based on environmentally-friendly technology. The system can also be processed on conventional machines allowing manufacturers to adjust properties such as the degree of hardness.
According to the company Elastopan S Proflite is the “ideal material for heavy-use safety shoes”. Extremely robust and super light, the system also allows for a sporty, modern design. It is also said to reduce density by up to 20%, offer outstanding hydrolysis-resistance, has the potential to be used for anti-static and ESD soles (electro-static-discharge) and can be processed with IMR (internal mould release) technology.
