Vibram’s FiveFingers recognised by Time

12/11/2007

Glove-styled shoe Vibram FiveFingers has been named one of the "Best Inventions of 2007" by Time magazine. According to managing editor, Richard Stengel, all of the products picked out by the magazine "represent the coolest stuff from the most innovative minds in the world."

Originally developed as a ‘barefoot alternative’ for sailing, climbing and light trekking, FiveFingers footwear is used by runners, fitness enthusiasts, yoga and Pilates participants, martial artists, surfers; kayakers, hikers and travellers. It is said to offer the health benefits of wearing no shoes with the protection and grip of a Vibram sole.

According to the company, the shoe strengthens muscles in the feet and lower legs and can improve balance, agility, posture, range of motion, and general foot health.

It is currently offered in three models, Classic, Sprint and Surge but two new models, the KSO and Flow, will be launched in 2008.
