Women’s footwear dominates Australian market
A new IBIS report, ‘Footwear Retailing in Europe’, predicts that revenues for the Australian footwear retail industry will rise 12.8% between now and 2012-13. This represents annual growth of approximately 2.4%, with revenues for the 2007-08 period expected to reach A$2.04 billion ($1.88 billion).
The women's footwear sector accounts for around half of the country’s shoe sales, with men's footwear holding a 25% share, children's and infant's shoes accounting for 18% and others, including unisex, taking up the final 7%.
The report documents the condition of the market and includes profiles on companies including the Colorado Group, Rebel Sport Limited, Betts Group and RCG Corporation. It also monitors the situation in terms of age range and examines geographical factors.
