American footwear retailer Brown Shoe Company, Inc. has appointed Joe Caro as senior vice president and chief information officer with immediate effect. The newly created role gives him responsibility for the company’s technology strategy and he will manage a team of global technology specialists.

"Our IT infrastructure is critical to serving our customers, operating efficiently and implementing our plans for growth," said chief talent officer, Doug Koch.

Mr Caro joins Brown Shoe from CitiGroup, where he served as senior vice president and chief technology officer for the CitiFinancial international division.
