Canada shoe body files anti-dumping complaint
The Shoe Manufacturers Association of Canada (SMAC) has filed a complaint with the Anti-Dumping Directorate of the Canada Border Services Agency requesting that it re-impose dumping duties on waterproof rubber footwear from China, Vietnam and Macao.
SMAC president, George Hanna, said: "Rubber footwear from these countries accounts for more than $200 million in sales a year in Canada. It's imperative that the injury finding on waterproof rubber footwear that expired almost two weeks ago be reinstated immediately." said George Hanna.
"Canadian manufacturers can't compete fairly when the largest shoe manufacturers in the world sell their products well below their fair market value," he added.
