Branded work and outdoor footwear firm LaCrosse Footwear, Inc. has posted higher sales for its third quarter ended September 29.

Net sales rose 12% during the quarter to $36.9 million compared with $32.8 million in the third quarter of 2006. Sales for the first three quarters were $85.5 million, again up 12% from $76.1 million in the prior-year period.

Net income was $3.3 million in the third, up 30% from $2.5 million in the third quarter of 2006. Income for the first three quarters was up 19% to $4.9 million from $4.1 million.

Sales to the work market were $15.1 million for the third quarter, up 20% from $12.5 million for the same period of 2006. Sales for the nine-month period totalled $43.7 million, up 13%, reflecting increased sales of work and uniform boots. Third quarter sales to the outdoor market rose 7% to $21.8 million from $20.3 million, while sales for the first three quarters were up 12% to $41.8 million. This increase is the result of higher sales in the cold weather and rugged outdoor boot sectors.

“We are pleased with our execution and financial performance for the third quarter, despite the unseasonably warm weather conditions in the eastern US, which certainly impacted our outdoor boot sales throughout much of the quarter,” said president and CEO, Joseph Schneider.
