Thai farm loses 36 crocodiles
According to reports, 36 crocodiles escaped from a farm in the Nakhon Ratchasima province, northern Thailand, last week during heavy floods.
Villagers have been hunting the animals, which are being farmed for their meat and skins. The skins are used to produce high quality footwear and leather goods.
So far, 11 of the crocodiles have been shot dead and another 11 have been taken alive. It is hoped the rest will be returned alive and unharmed.
There have not been any reported injuries as yet, although the animals, which weigh 200kg and measure up to five metres, are considered dangerous.
