Indian and Italian shoemakers join forces
An Cooperation Agreement was signed on October 22 by Alberto Drudi, director of the board at Unioncamere Marche of Italy and president of the Indian Shoe Federation, Aqeel Ahmed to enable members of the Italian footwear industry to disseminate skills and expertise to Indian shoemakers.
The Italian contingent will also assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India in the area of technology upgrades for the footwear sector.
Mr Ahmed said that the two most important parts of the agreement would be promotion of the Marche regional model within the Chennai footwear cluster and training activities to provide Indian firms with the necessary technical skills.
