Reports indicate that shoe manufacturer Skechers USA Inc. is to open a large warehouse in Moreno Valley, California. This move aims to improve efficiency by centralising operations of five separate buildings that are currently based in Ontario.

It will be the sole occupant of a 1.8 million square foot building, which will be used to distribute shoes across the US and Canada.

With our planned highly automated single facility in Rancho Belago, we believe we can improve the efficiency of our logistics operations necessary to leverage our distribution center costs while meeting the increased demand for our product,” said senior vice president of distribution, Paul Galliher.

Approximately 800 staff will be employed at the warehouse.
