Shoes boost Burberry revenues
UK-based fashion company Burberry Group says luxury footwear and handbags have significantly bumped up earnings in the first half.
Total revenue for the first six months of 2007 was up 19% to £449 million compared with £392 million in the first half of 2006. Retail sales rose 20% to £202 million, with particularly strong growth in France, Italy and the US.
“Our new luxury outerwear, apparel and non-apparel collections, combined with our compelling marketing campaigns, have again driven demand in both our retail and wholesale channels,” said chief executive, Angela Ahrendts. The company said its new studded sandals and laser cut sandals were helping to drive sales.
Second half revenues are expected show a mid-teens increase.
