London footwear sales stride ahead
Figures show that although sales growth for central London was at its lowest since May, overall sales for the region were up in September. Sales increased by 6.8% compared with September 2006, with higher visitor numbers partially responsible for the rise. Cooler weather also contributed to better sales figures.
Footwear and apparel sales led growth, showing much higher sales than those recorded for the same month last year, with designer fashion, handbags and jewellery also rising.
