Sports brand Pony International has partnered with chemicals and coatings supplier PPG Industries to help create performance and athletic shoes with the latest coating systems.

Pony's public relations and sports marketing director, Colin Brickley, hopes PPG’s Vivaflex colour system will: “Perform over multiple substrates, enhance the quality of performance and appearance, provide innovation to design, and be an effective tool to Pony for market differentiation to customers."

The system offers a choice of more than 60,000 colours and finishes and creates a uniform appearance when applied to flexible materials used in athletic footwear, such as synthetic leather, ethylene vinyl acetate, polyurethane, thermoplastic urethane and rubber.
