Brazil well represented at Modacalzado
Footwear fair Modacalzado, which took place from September 27-29 in Madrid, hosted 15 Brazilian companies and their collections for spring/summer 2008. Among these were Di Cristalli, whose collection focused on metallic shades, and children’s footwear companies such as Klin and Pampili. Comfort shoe creators Anatomic Gel, Mironneli, Opananken and Sapatoterapia also showcased their new styles at the event. Ranges from Azaléia, Braspiel, Cristofoli, Ferrucci, Siboney and Tchocco were displayed in hall eight alongside the Abicalçados (Brazilian Association of Footwear Industries) stand, while Dilly and Miezko presented their collections in the ‘Glamour Section’ in hall ten.
Spain is currently the fifth biggest importer of Brazilian footwear, after the US, the UK, Argentina and Italy. There are more than 300 component industries in Brazil, more than 400 companies involved in leather tanning and around 100 machinery and equipment factories.
