Paquetá opens Argentinean factory
Brazilian shoe manufacturer Paquetá has opened its first sports shoe factory in Argentina. As a result, the company is now the largest manufacturer of Adidas shoes in the country.
The new 9,000 m² unit is in Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires, and has generated 700 hundred new jobs. The company will have invested more than $20 million in the production unit by 2011. Argentina's President, Néstor Kirchner, and Chancellor, Miguel Peirano, attended the inauguration ceremony.
Founded in 1945, the Paquetá Group now employs 20,000 people and its brands include Dumond, Capodarte and Paquetá. It is also is a Diadora licensee. Paquetá produces 50,000 pairs of shoes per day at factories in nine Brazilian states and in Chivilcoy.
