New equipment at SATRA

UK-based technology and testing centre SATRA has invested £60,000 in new equipment in order to meet with higher demand for restricted substances testing. The new Inductively Conducted Plasma (ICP) Optical Emission Spectrometer will give the centre a higher number of elements with increased sensitivity and speed.

The ICP equipment has been purchased to work with its existing Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS). While the AAS tests for just one element at a time, the new instrument can quantify a wider range of elements of interest simultaneously, which helps reduce
analysis time. ICP is up to 1,000 times more sensitive than AAS, meaning much smaller quantities of dangerous elements can be detected.
