M&S shoe provider shuts up shop
According to reports, footwear and household goods firm Lambert Howarth has gone into administration after its largest customer, UK retailer Marks and Spencer, cancelled all future orders with the firm.
Approximately 74 of the 150-strong workforce are said to have been made redundant as a result of the action.
Marks and Spencer is set to source the comfort shoe brand, which it now owns, from another manufacturer. It had worked with Lambert Howarth for 27 years and expressed regret at the decision it had made, which was said to be in favour of “great quality products at great prices”. Existing contracts, which are valid until 2008 will be honoured.
