Footwear becomes Vietnam’s third largest export

28/09/2007

Estimates from Vietnam’s General Statistics Office show that the country’s exports for the last nine months increased 19.4% compared with the prior-year period, totalling $35.2 billion.

Data showed that footwear is now the country’s third largest export earner, up 13.1% year-on-year to $3 billion. The only categories now beating footwear are textiles and clothing and crude oil.

It has now been predicted that exports could exceed the $45 billion annual export target by more than $3 billion.
