New hospital-friendly Crocs to be launched

In response to recent safety concerns, US footwear company Crocs Inc. is to introduce two new models specifically aimed at those in the medical profession.

Lacking the distinctive holes found in the traditional Crocs models, the Croslite footbed will be covered by a thick protective upper in order to prevent injury from sharp instruments or needles.

However, the shoes have been banned from some hospitals as claims have been made that static electricity produced when wearing the shoes could have a detrimental effect on medical equipment, such as incubators. Concerns have also been raised over people wearing the colourful footwear on escalators.

Despite this, the company continues to enjoy high demand for its shoes across 80 countries worldwide.
