Toms Shoes teams up with Hanson in anti-poverty campaign
California-based footwear company Toms, which donates a pair of shoes to a child in need for each pair sold, has teamed up with boy band Hanson on the band's US tour, ‘The Walk’.
The purpose of the initiative is to raise awareness about, and to help combat, poverty in Africa. Toms' founder, Blake Mycoskie, and the band will speak publicly about the importance of taking simple actions that can help to impact areas that are seriously affected by poverty, and the company’s shoes – based on a traditional Argentine shoe – will be available at each tour location.
Furthermore, proceeds from the band’s “Great Divide” song, which is featured on the new album, have been donated to AIDS relief in Africa.
The tour kicked off in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 10 and will end in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 8.
