GDS gets off to positive start
14/09/2007
The GDS exhibition in Dusseldorf got off to a flying start today. Exhibitor numbers were up by 8% for the three-day event, with 1378 companies from 45 countries taking part.
The organisers were particularly pleased that a large proportion of exhibitors were from the high-end of the footwear market.
Exhibition manager, Kirstin Deutelmoser, said at an inaugural press conference: “The brands are back at GDS. There is a euphoria around; you can feel the enthusiasm.”
She also announced the dates for GDS next year. The March edition of the show will run from 14–16 of the month, while the autumn event will run from 12–14 September.
Ms Deutelmoser said next September’s GDS would move to a different part of the Dusseldorf trade fair site, halls one to eight. This meant a change for exhibitors, but she explained that it was the only way to keep the dates that footwear companies have become used to.
