Cheaper energy for Italian manufacturers

Members of Italy's National Footwear Manufacturers' Association (ANCI) will have access to cheaper energy thanks to a deal the organisation has stuck with power supplier Edison.
ANCI said on announcing the deal that its members, who are responsible for around 70% of Italy's footwear output, would have access to a competitive price for energy at a fixed rate for two years. Members are not obliged to accept the offer.
The organisation added that fluctuating energy costs were one of the biggest headaches for members. Energy accounts for a large proportion of companies' budgets, and a lack of clarity and security in the energy market makes it hard for companies to budget accurately.
