Footwear body will take anti-dumping fight to court
07/09/2007
Peru’s Institute for the Defence of Competition and Intellectual Property (Indecopi) has announced that the government will not impose anti-dumping measures on cloth-upper shoes from Vietnam and China.
A footwear industry organisation in the South American country asked the institute to investigate to see if Vietnam and China were dumping cloth-upper shoes on the local market.
The investigation failed to prove that Peru's own cloth-upper shoe sector was suffering because of the imports. The industry organisation, the CCCA, has said it will go to court to appeal the decision.
