Suppliers under one roof

Footwear manufacturers in Vietnam are to benefit from a new supply centre, which is being developed in the southern province of Binh Duong.

The site should come into operation in the course of next year and, when complete, will cover 16 hectares.

Raw materials and accessories suppliers to the footwear and textiles industries will each have space in the centre to show and store their goods. Footwear producers will travel to Binh Duong to choose the companies and materials they want to work with and place orders.

The Vietnamese authorities are investing $12 million in the first phase alone. They are convinced the initiative will help the country's footwear manufacturers keep their costs down.

The plan is to add a hotel, restaurants and a sports centre to the site at a later date.
